Polar Express

The Polar Express Train Ride announced upcoming ticket sales for the Central Florida city starting on Friday, July 28 at 6:00 PM.

The response to the news went viral in the Orlando area with thousands of likes, shares and comments on the official Facebook page as well as local media and social media alike buzzing with the news.

Of course, it was only a matter of time until the popular children’s attraction made its way to the city synonymous with childlike wonder and amazement, but Orlando marks only the second Florida location and one of only a handful in the Deep South.

The ride will both depart from and return to the train station in Tavares, Florida, which is about 30-45 minutes to the northwest outside of Orlando proper.

The ride is scheduled for one hour and promises to be a completely immersive experience based on the characters and story from the classic children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg as well as sights and sounds from the 2004 motion picture starring Tom Hanks.

Passengers will get the chance to get their special golden tickets punched before being served hot chocolate and cookies courtesy of a team of dancing chefs. Caroling and other various onboard entertainment will also mimic the scenes many would remember from the movie.

After a reading of the poplar story, Santa is scheduled to board the train to give each passenger the “first gift of Christmas.” Those who know and love the story will remember that first gift as a silver sleigh bell which will only ring for those who keep the belief of Christmas in their hearts.

Previously, in Orlando, Seaworld had hosted a Polar Express attraction during the holiday season, but that ceased operation in 2016—much to the dismay of fans—and was replaced with a now-popular Rudolph attraction. Yet, for those who still want to believe in the magic of the season with their favorite train ride, the official Polar Express is coming to the rescue.

The official Polar Express Train Ride is operated by Rail Events, Inc which is part of the American Heritage Railways family. Rail Events also operates popular Peanuts and Wizard of Oz-themed train rides around the country.
